the "Worm Lizards".
Amphisbaenians are limbless lizards.
There are over 135 species of Amphisbaenians.
They look like a giant earthworm.
They usually grow from 10-80 cm in length.
Some of the Amphisbaenians can move backwards as well as
forwards. It can be hard to tell the front from the back.
They lead a burrowing lifestyle and spend much time
underground. They are rarely seen.
Amphisbaenians make little use of vision.
Some scientists believe that they use hearing to locate their
prey in their underground tunnels.
They look a lot like the Caecilian which is an amphibian, but
they are not related.
They are hard to study, because they are hard to find.
